SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for accurately gauging and recording crude oil production volumes, reviewing leases, computing the gauge tickets into total barrels of oil and computing the purchaser's gauge ticket, matching the two with the run statement, notifying the purchase if a discrepancy should occur and solve the problem by either obtaining a corrected the figure.
Incumbent utilizes the Code of Federal Regulations governing oil and gas operations, standards outlined in the American Petroleum Institute Code Manual.
Responsible for the inspection, monitoring and gauging activities provided by manuals developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials which are precisely developed technologies, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs guidelines, internal tribal policies and specific requests.

Notify purchaser if a discrepancy should occur and solve the problem by either obtaining a corrected gauge ticket or finding the error and correcting the figure.
Responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate communications with all concerned parties, (lessee, lessor, purchaser, landowner, and/or state/federal agencies, etc.) to obtain and disseminate information. Incumbent will be called upon to conduct field demonstrations of oil and gas operational aspects.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS : (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Technical and Medical Support Positions, GS-0802).
GS-5 : 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in Federal service which involved inspecting, monitoring and determining the quantity and quality oil and gas OR 4 years above the high school leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in the appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology OR at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.


GS-6 : 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service which include technical work and measuring, sampling, and testing for quality and quantity of oil and gas.


GS-7 : 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal Service which include technical work in drafting, surveying, construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems OR 1 full year of graduate level education related to the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of occupations that may have provided qualifying specialized experience include: draftsperson, surveying technician, construction estimator, physical science technician, or mathematical technician. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
OTHER: Incumbent is required to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle, in the performance of duties, therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
